Due to popular demand, Airlink will increase its flights between Johannesburg and Nosy Be in Madagascar to two a week during the holiday season. The seasonal flights departs on Wednesday from December 14 to January 4.
SAA will receive the first of its five new Airbus A330-300s in November. The new aircraft will be used on some existing routes in order to maximise operating efficiencies.
Domestic niche route operator, CemAir is expanding its network and has grown its fleet with a new 50-seater Bombardier Dash-8 @300 to boost capacity on its popular Margate and Plettenberg Bay services.
Ethihad Airways will expand its services to Italy with a daily flight to Venice from Abu Dhabi from 30 October using an Airbus A319.
Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new service to Windhoek and to Moroni in the Comoros. The thrice weekly service between Addis Ababa and Windhoek will commence on 4 October via Gaborone using a Boeing B737. Flight ET828 will depart Windhoek at 10h00 and arrive in Addis Ababa on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Return flight ET829 will depart Addis Ababa at 09h40 and arrive in Windhoek at 15h25 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights between Addis Ababa and Comoros will commence on 30 October, via Dar-es-Salaam. Flight ET825 will depart Addis Ababa on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while return flight ET824 will depart Moroni on the same days.
JetBlue has plans to expand its fleet by taking delivery of 30 new Airbus aircraft over the next seven years. The airline expects to received 15 A321ceos (current engine option) in 2017, five of which will be fitted with the new Mint experience, a premium offering for travellers that includes lie-flat seats and free Wi-Fi.
Arik Air has announced new flight times of its daily JNB-Lagos B737-800 flights to enable better connections to its West African destinations. The new flight times mean returning passengers don’t have to spend the night in Lagos but can return the same day.
Delta Airlines will commence daily services to Havana from Atlanta, Miami and New York - JFK on 1 December. Flights open for sale on 10 September.
HIA has introduced a Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) of QAR 35 (R141), effective 30 August. The new tax is applied to all departing and transferring passengers (connecting within 24 hours) on all airlines operating from the airport and will be incorporated into ticket prices.
