FlySafair tests on-board card payments
FlySafair has rolled out the test phase of its in-flight mobile point-of-sale system, AviaPay. The new service accepts all Visa and MasterCard products, meaning that payment can be made with either a credit or debit card. 

Increase of Mozambique multiple-entry visa price
Business travelers to Mozambique have been hit with a significant price increase for a three-month multiple-entry visa. The increased visa rate - which came into effect in January - has seen costs increase from R765 to R2 500. Visa experts confirm this new cost is in line with what African countries in general charge. This is the first time the price of this visa has gone up in many years.

Lufthansa opens new lounge in Milan
The new Lufthansa lounge at Milan’s Malpensa Airport will open this month. Typical Milanese cuisine will be on offer, in line with Lufthansa’s exclusive concept of including a ‘local touch’ to its new or renovated lounges. The lounge offers a front cooking station where guests will be served freshly prepared meals, and a central bar serving barista-prepared coffees, or Italian aperitifs like Campari, Martini and Aperol with finger foods. There is a Coffee Corner for travellers who just want to make a quick stop in the lounge

Kenya Airways launches flights to Mauritius
Kenya Airways has launched flights to Mauritius. From June these flights will operate four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays. Kenya Airways has an existing codeshare agreement with Air Mauritius for three weekly flights from Mauritius to Nairobi. With the new service, both airlines can offer a daily service on the route.

Ethiopian Airlines launches new direct routes
Ethiopian Airlines will launch direct flights to Washington and Toronto from 1 March. The two flights, Addis Ababa-Washington Dulles International Airport and Addis Ababa-Toronto Pearson, both currently have a technical stop in Ireland and will be serviced by a Boeing 787-900 aircraft.

London’s all-night Overground train service extended
In the UK, Night-time Overground rail services have been extended to north London. All-night weekend services from New Cross Gate in the south currently terminate at Dalston Junction. However, from 23 February, trains will carry on to Canonbury, Highbury and Islington stations. The extension will connect the Night Overground with the Victoria line Night Tube for the first time.

Qatar Airways acquires Australian hotel
Qatar Airways recently acquired the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel in an effort to expand Dhiafatina Hotels, its hospitality portfolio. Dhiafatina Hotels has acquired a number of luxury properties, including the Sheraton Skyline Hotel at Heathrow Airport in London, The Novotel Edinburgh Park in Scotland, the Oryx Rotana Hotel in Doha, and The Airport Hotel at Doha’s Hamad International Airport. The Sheraton Melbourne Hotel is situated in the Paris end of Melbourne’s Little Collins Street, near to the central business district as well as many attractions. It has 174 rooms and suites, and is ideally situated for business travellers and tourists alike. The hotel features a restaurant, p√Ętisserie, a spa, indoor heated pool, and a fitness centre. There is also an entire floor dedicated to meeting and events space.
